Cinza - Passage (Passing)
On Passing
"There is much more mystery in the shadow of a man walking on a sunny day, than in all religions of the world” – Giorgio De Chirico.
With this work I am striving to push the balance between abstract and familiar. How far the familiar can be distorted before it gives way to emotional disconnect in the viewer. I am interested in creating something that sits right on that edge, without spilling over into disconnect.
This media artwork was created to function purely as a mood piece -- to create mystery and let the viewer's mind wander and form a subjective interpretation of what they are seeing.
As in previous work, the audio is again given considerable attention. It is the second vital half of the whole. The importance of the sound falls on its ability to properly capture, reflect, and augment the mood of the video. It will also act to give the whole piece momentum and flow. It is a crucial sensory layer that encompasses audible as well as physical sensation through the use of low frequencies.
Ideally this work would be viewed as an installation, in a dark enclosed space on an HD screen with a 5.1 audio setup.
